FAQs

Dubunking your question about connections. Get in touch to speak to an expert should you have any questions.

Do you require an internet connection?

No. Our systems only require a single bar of signal to a single point on your building.

Does your system require an internet or GPS connection?

No. Our system only needs to have at least 1 bar of native cellular signal, in at least one spot of your building, to be able to cover your whole home or office space.

Does the signal boosting system work for multiple networks simultaneously?

Yes, our systems use a multi-operator repeater, with a single unit having the ability to boost up to four networks simultaneously.

Do you provide support and aftercare?

Yes, we provide a full, optional aftercare solution. Get in touch for further information.

Is it legal to use signal boosters?

All our technologies are fully legal, adhering to Ofcom’s new licence-exempt requirements (IR2102) and legal to use in the UK.

Does a mobile signal boosting system pose a security risk for existing systems?

No. A properly installed mobile signal booster won't pose a security risk to your existing systems. Mobile signal boosters simply amplify the weak cellular signal you already receive. They don't create a new network or alter your existing WiFi or Bluetooth connections. These boosters work within a specific area (your home or office) and don't broadcast far enough to interfere with neighbouring networks.

Will a mobile signal boosting system interfere with my wifi?

No. This is a common misconception. Mobile signal boosters and WiFi operate on entirely different radio frequencies. Think of it like this: you can use a microwave oven without interrupting your radio reception because they use different frequencies. In the same way, your phone and WiFi devices communicate on separate frequencies, so boosting your phone signal won't affect your WiFi performance.

What kind of improvement in signal strength can I expect?

Typically, our signal boosting solutions are capable of significantly enhancing signal reception, transforming weak or intermittent signals into reliable connections. However, the improvement in signal strength can vary depending on factors such as your location, existing signal strength, and the specific solution implemented. Customers often experience a noticeable increase in signal bars on their devices, leading to clearer voice calls, faster data speeds, and improved overall connectivity.

Does Connection Solutions provide support for both calling and data services?

Yes. Connection Solutions offers comprehensive support for LTE voice and data coverage. Our services encompass a wide range of technologies including 3G (UMTS/WCDMA), 4G (HSPA/HSPA+), and LTE, ensuring seamless connectivity for both voice calls and data transmission.

What is a mobile signal repeater, and how does it work?

A mobile signal repeater serves as a radio-frequency device designed to enhance mobile network coverage for users by amplifying signals. These repeaters function by receiving frequencies from mobile network providers through reception antennas. It's crucial to note that all radio devices, including mobile signal repeaters, must adhere to regulatory standards set by governing bodies such as Ofcom (IR2102) in the UK and ComReg S.I.No.283 of 2018 in Ireland to ensure compliance and legality of operation.

What is the difference between a mobile signal booster and a wifi repeater?

Wi-Fi signal repeaters extend the coverage of wireless internet networks to alleviate weak spots within a home or office, amplifying signals to improve connectivity for devices like laptops, smartphones, and tablets. On the other hand, mobile signal repeaters enhance communication between mobile devices and cellular network carriers, focusing on improving voice clarity, reducing dropped calls, and enhancing data speeds in indoor areas with inadequate network coverage. Unlike Wi-Fi boosters, mobile signal repeaters do not require a broadband connection for operation.

What type of mobile signal does this technology boost?

Our mobile signal boosters are able to boost signal on the frequencies used by all of the generations of mobile network:

  • 2G (GSM): This is the older cellular technology used for voice calls and basic text messaging.
  • 3G (UMTS): Provides faster data speeds than 2G, allowing for web browsing, email, and basic image/video sharing.
  • 4G LTE: The current standard for mobile internet, offering significant improvements in data speed and capacity for activities like streaming, video calls, and online gaming.
  • 5G (depending on the model): The latest mobile network technology, boasting ultra-fast data speeds and even lower latency (signal delay) for next-generation applications.

Does your system work with all mobile carriers?

Connection Solutions collaborates with all major networks, including EE, Vodafone, O2, Three, and all major UK MVNOs. It's important to note that a separate signal booster is necessary for each network; however, these boosters can be reconfigured to switch between networks as needed.
